N8 CIR and HPC@Sheffield

Find out more about our involvement in HPC@Sheffield on the 8th of April

Mark Lundie, N8 CIR Research Infrastructure Engineer from the University of Manchester, is presenting at the University of Sheffield annual research IT event, HPC@Sheffield.

The event, aimed at University of Sheffield researchers, gives the opportunity to find out more about national, regional and local projects using Research IT facilities. There will be presentations to show how researchers benefit from research computing facilities and a vendor exhibition.

Mark will be introducing N8 CIR to Sheffield researchers and explaining how we are reaching out side of what is seen as the traditional HPC user base.

"HPC has often been seen as arcane outside of its traditional user base. In the information age, however, researchers across all domains can greatly benefit from the vast array of computational resources available to them. The N8 Centre of Excellence for Computationally Intensive Research has been established to assist these researchers, while continuing to meet the needs of the established domains.”
