Joanna Leng is an EPSRC funded RSE Fellow working in the area of Research Computing and Imaging. She has worked cross a wide variety of disciplines as an RSE and researcher for over 20 years both in academic departments and Research Computing groups based in IT Service departments delivering a local visualization service as well as local; regional and national HPC services. She is currently based in the School of Computing where she is growing an RSE team specialising in software for imaging and the use of imaging data in research. Her fellowship is partnered with Diamond Light Source SuperSTEM and the Scientific Computing and Imaging (SCI) Institute at the University of Utah.
Her PhD thesis has the title 'A Visualization Toolkit for Solar Physicists'; her MSC 'Volume Visualization of Third Trimester Placenta'; she has a BSc in Biophysics and recently completed a PG Cert in Innovation Management. She runs a RSE and Women in HPC network at the University of Leeds. As a hobby she has been one of the core leaders of an Arts-Science-Marker Collective called The Superposition.
