Guest speaker:

We are thrilled to welcome Christine Arrowsmith, a highly respected professional in the field of HPC. Christine will be sharing her experiences working in HPC, including how she started her journey when she joined the BCS as a student in 1966.

Christine is a member of the BCS, ISUG, and Business and Professional Women Ltd. Her career in computing began in the early 1970s where she progressed from a trainee to a senior programmer at RHM foods in four years. Throughout her career, she has held positions as a business analyst, data modeller, database designer, senior programmer, and project manager in businesses as varied as Railtrack, the Inland Revenue, ITSA, RoMEC, the National Computer Centre, ICI Agrochemicals, Nissan, HM. Stationery Office, National Girobank, and F.W. Woolworth’s PLC. While working in these companies she gained a degree in Maths and Technology from the Open University in 1980.

Event format:

The event will be held in a hybrid format, allowing members to participate either in person or virtually. The in-person portion will take place at Durham University. For virtual attendees, we will be using Zoom to ensure a seamless and engaging experience.
