N8 CIR Bede Application

Here you can find details on the information you need to gather before submitting your application to use the Bede facility. This form should only be completed by researchers from an N8 institution or those seeking to pilot their work before a formal EPSRC call.

Go to the Bede Documentation page to find out more about Bede and its hardware and software before you make your application.

We strongly advise that you contact your local Research Software Engineering support at Bede RSE support before completing this form to ascertain if your application is suitable for Bede. You should also be aware of the Research Data Management policies and guidelines at your institution.

All non-N8 applications have to go through the EPSRC Access to HPC application process. We hope to be able to provide small allocations to non-N8 researchers through a ‘driving test’ scheme, allowing them to test the suitability of their projects before applying to a RAP call.

Outlined below are the questions you will need to answer to complete the application, which can also be downloaded using the link above.

  • Number of GPUs per job
  • Wall clock time per job (hours)
  • Memory required per GPU, per job (GBytes)
  • Amount of data written to disk per job (GBytes)
  • Number of such jobs/month and in total
  • Number of users for your project

FILESTORE

Please indicate the amount of non-parallel filestore you require (for maintaining codes, etc.) as a number in GBs of 'normal' usage.

A Lustre filestore is available for parallel IO. Please state the amount required if you need it as a number in GBs of 'normal' usage.

Please note this area is NOT backed up.
