DRI Retreat 2024

We hosted a five-day retreat comprising of panel discussions and group sessions for technology specialists to develop soft skills and network with peers. This national event was open to software engineers, infrastructure engineers, and data managers at any stage of their careers and encouraged those new to these fields to attend.

This event, hosted by the N8 Centre of Excellence in Computationally Intensive Research (N8 CIR) intended to support the development of soft skills amongst the research support community. It ran from 18th-22nd March 2024 at the Pendulum Hotel and Conference Centre in Manchester. Attendees were DRI technology specialists, such as research software engineers, research infrastructure engineers, and research data managers, and the meeting allowed them to develop additional professional skills to support researchers and accelerate discovery. Both in-person and online attendees were welcome with close to 100 attendees daily.

Each day was broken into sessions based entirely on panel discussions with time for a Q&A in each session, and finished with an informal session which provided further discussion with panellists and networking (generally in the bar).

The links below provide the entire programme, the focus and panellists for each session in the daily schedules, panellist biographies, and an online noticeboard.

The meeting was recorded and videos of the sessions will be uploaded on these pages when they are available.
