Friends and Collaborators

Friday 22nd March

An overview of the final day of N8 CIR's Digital Infrastructure Retreat, which will focus on working with those in, and outside, academia.

Session 1: Fostering positive vendor relations
09:00 - 10:00

A good relationship is a two-way process, not simply a vendor selling you the products that they want to, or are the most profitable.

In this session panellists will lead a discussion of how to clearly articulate your needs and value proposition, offer advice on how to ensure the relationship is mutually beneficial and how to recruit your vendor to sell your case internally. They’ll also highlight some hazards and red flags to make sure you’re not tripped up!

Panellists: Mark Wilkinson, Simon Hood, Tania Allard, Waldo Rosales, Owen Thomas, Damian Jones

Break 10:00-10:15

Session 2: Stories from the trenches
10:15 - 11:15

To allow for an honest discussion, this session will not be recorded

Join us for a candid discussion where panellists will share their experiences transforming setbacks into stepping stones to success. Learn how to reframe failures, identify patterns in your missteps, and leverage them to propel you forward. Discover strategies for cultivating a resilient mindset, fostering a supportive team culture, and embracing failure as an integral part of the learning process.

Break 11:15-11:30

Session 3: Wrap up
11:30 - 12:30

Alan Real will take to the stage once more to wrap up proceedings.

In this brief session, Alan will offer a summary of the week’s sessions, discuss some personal highlights from the retreat, and offer some final ideas and inspiration for participants.

Lunch and Depart 13:30 - 14:30

We won’t send you away with an empty stomach.

The final lunch of the retreat will be a final opportunity for participants to chat, network, and savour the opportunities of in-person events.
