Bede Introductory Event, January 2021

On 28 January researchers who have already made use of Bede in their work came together to present case studies of their experience.

Introduction

The event was led by Marion Weinzierl, N8 CIR's research software engineering theme leader, who introduced the system and gave a comprehensive overview of its capabilities.

You can download her slides from the event below.

Case Studies

After the system was introduced, there were six case studies presented covering a range of subjects including agent-based modelling and turbulent wind flows.

We are enormously grateful to all of the researchers who gave their time to speak at this event:

  • Thomas Hudson, Durham University - Natural Language Processing for long documents
  • Paul Richmond, University of Sheffield - FLAME GPU (Agent-based simulation of complex systems)
  • Ben Rogers, University of Manchester - Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics
  • Marta Camps Santasmasas, University of Manchester - Turbulent fluid flows with GASCANS
  • Holger Schulz, Durham University - PDE-solving with 3 Levels of Parallelism
  • Michele Vendruscolo, Cambridge University, HECBioSim - Covid simulations

The first of these presentations can be viewed on our YouTube channel by clicking the button below.

We'll update this page with more presentations as they become available.
