As the new Director of N8 CIR (the N8 Centre of Excellence in Computationally Intensive Research), I would like to welcome you to this new initiative. Following on from the success of N8 HPC, this new CoE should benefit many more N8 researchers and not just those who use HPC.
The aim of N8 CIR is to help N8 researchers gain a competitive edge in their research. It will do this by building communities of practice in various research topics; developing computational skills, software and training for researchers in many disciplines; facilitating access to HPC resources both locally and nationally; and will support all this with a network of Research Software Engineers (RSEs).
This is an exciting time, with a combination of local and N8-wide activities in the next few months, so please watch out for announcements, and get involved - there will be various opportunities for you to have your say in the near future.
Thank you for your support of N8 HPC over the years, and we hope you will continue to engage with N8 CIR in the future - and that it will prove even more useful to you than N8 HPC!
