N8 CIR Machine Learning - Lancaster

Machine learning (ML) is having a revolutionary effect across the sciences and humanities.

Online Event
2 Feb 2022 1:30 p.m. — 2:30 p.m.

For many researchers, getting involved and using machine learning is a challenge. In this event we want to hear from researchers at Lancaster, across all career stages, about the entry barriers to ML and how the N8 Computationally-Intensive Research (CIR) community can support researchers in integrating ML into their work.

Overview

Machine Learning has been selected as a new theme within N8 CIR. The goal of the new theme is to educate and up-skill researchers across the N8 network in the algorithms and computational infrastructure that supports machine learning algorithms.

This first meeting will be a fact-finding session to identify the key areas where N8 can support Lancaster researchers, and other N8 researchers, to realise the potential of machine learning and support academic research.

This workshop is open to everyone, whether they are experienced in ML or just interested to learn more. The session will be interactive and attendees are encouraged to contribute ideas and thoughts via online post-it notes and breakout sessions.

Registration

This event is only open to those working or studying at Lancaster University. Please register for the event using your academic (.ac.uk) e-mail address to help confirm eligibility.

Similar events will be organised at each of the N8 Universities.
