After an incredibly successful pilot, we are delighted to confirm that the N8 CIR Internship Programme has been funded for 2025.
This year we welcomed 24 interns in each of the N8 Universities - Durham, Lancaster, Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester, Newcastle, Sheffield, and York. The scheme was aimed at undergraduates in years 1, 2 and 3 of any degree, and matched them with supervisors. They each completed a project in Digital Health, Digital Humanities, or Machine Learning over the summer, strengthening their digital skills and introducing them to high-performance computing.
The students presented their work at the recent Internship Showcase in York, which consisted of 5-minute presentations and small group discussions.
Next year, we hope to offer up to 27 undergraduate students, 3 at each of the N8 Universities, the opportunity to complete a paid internship, present their work, and publish it on our website. We expect to open applications in February.
