The N8 CIR Internship Scheme is a unique opportunity for undergraduate students to engage in cutting-edge computer science projects in machine learning, digital health, and digital humanities.

N8 CIR is excited to announce the launch of its Summer Internship Scheme for undergraduate students across its member universities. This initiative offers a unique opportunity for students to engage in cutting-edge computer science projects spanning machine learning, digital health, and digital humanities.

Internship Overview

The programme offers one internship position in the three focus areas at each of the eight N8 universities: machine learning, digital health, and digital humanities. Each project will be supervised by a researcher and a research software engineer, ensuring comprehensive mentorship and support. The internships will run for 8 weeks, providing students with invaluable hands-on experience in research environments. These internships will provide a stipend of £3500 for each student.

Interns will have opportunities to meet up in person to learn and network across the N8 universities, and will present their work to supervisors and interns at the Internship Showcase in September 2025.

Benefits for Interns

Interns will have the chance to:

  • Enhance their coding and technical skills through practical applications
  • Gain firsthand experience of research methodologies and the software engineering field.
  • Collaborate with leading academics and professionals in the field.
  • Contribute to impactful projects with real-world applications.
