N8 CIR Bursaries

The N8 CIR has bursaries available to support members of the N8 research community attend our training events and meetings

What is the purpose of the bursary?

As part of our commitment to making our events accessible, we offer a bursary to anyone who feels they have a financial barrier to attending. This could be due to travel, childcare, disability, career level, or another reason. We offer support with travel within the UK by train and hotel accommodation for multiple-day events (or distance from the event would require an overnight stay), but if you have a requirement that is not listed, please let us know and it will be considered.

Please note, these bursaries are ONLY for N8 CIR events and you must apply for a place on Eventbrite before applying for a bursary.

If you are uncertain if you would qualify for a bursary, please get in touch with us.

Who can apply?

This bursary is only available to those currently working or researching at Durham University, Lancaster University, the University of Leeds, the University of Liverpool, the University of Manchester, Newcastle University, the University of Sheffield, or the University of York and used to attend an N8 CIR event.

Apply for a Bursary

The upper limit on an award is typically £200. We will consider requests for bursaries exceeding this limit and you can outline these on the application form. Please complete it with as much information as possible regarding your bursary request. We will accept applications up to and including the day of the event.

Submit your application

These bursaries are provided as a reimbursement of your costs once you have attended an event. If your application is successful please keep your receipts to reclaim your expenses.

We will confirm whether your application has been successful within 10 working days after its submission. If, for any reason, you require a shorter notification period please state it in your application.
