From November 2024, attendees who feel they would not otherwise be able to attend our computation workshops can apply to have their travel and accommodation reimbursed. The bursary is self-certified and awarded based on need. There will be a budget for each in-person training event we host.
Bursary details and how to apply.
For over 10 years, we have hosted training events in computation for researchers in all of the N8 Universities and online. Thousands of researchers, technical specialists, PhD Students and undergraduates have learned how to code, how to use supercomputers, how to manage data and more. Our next training event is a two-day workshop on Neural Networks at the University of York, which is already proving to be very popular. This will be the first training event that will allow attendees to apply for funding to overcome financial barriers to attend.
As a programme, we are committed to making High Performance Computing accessible regardless of financial status, responsibilities, or background. We host a chapter of Women in HPC to support and encourage women in the field. We have also published a equality and diversity checklist, which has been praised internationally for removing barriers in HPC recruitment. Our training bursary is the latest development in our mission to make HPC accessible, informed by the feedback of our community.
