N8 CIR Meet-ups 2020

N8 CIR have organised as series of six meet-ups. Taking place during May and June they will highlight the range of skills, expertise and activity across the N8 Research Partnership.

In June 2019 N8 CIR held the first of its RSE Meet-ups. Around 30 people from across the N8 Research Partnership attended the event benefitting from informative talks and networking opportunities.

For 2020 this event is naturally moving online and will comprise a series of events each Thursday between 14 May and 18 June. The sessions are expected to be one hour each between 3-4pm

You can book on to as many or as few sessions as you like.

Women in HPC Application

Thursday 14 May, 3-4pm
N8 CIR is developing an application to become a Women in HPC 'Chapter', with the aim of helping to create a welcoming and inclusive environment to work in. The session, led by Kirsty Pringle of the University of Leeds, will include an introduction to work done so far followed by an informal discussion of to gather ideas and identify issues.

N8 CIR Meet-Ups – RSE Career Progression

Thursday 4 June, 3-4pm
In this session Mark Turner (University of Newcastle) will explain some of the work done with Human Resources departments to set roles and responsibilities for each job grade from new RSEs to group leaders. There will also be feedback from senior RSEs who have sat on interview panels.

N8 CIR Meet-Ups – RSE Speed Blogging

Thursday 18 June, 3-4pm
Speed blogging events are fun, interactive and engaging sessions. Participants work in small groups to document ideas, opinions and challenges. It is a great way to get to know other RSEs, share ideas and have a chance to get a voice. This session will be led by Kirsty Pringle from the University of Leeds with additional support from Alison Clarke and Marion Weinzierl, both from Durham University.
